“NO SUCH THING”
NAÏYO Born from art, takes an experimental approach to fashion and design through a multidisciplinary process in which collections are formed. Founded by two brothers in collaboration, Artist Roy Nachum and Designer Adi Nachum. NAÏYO is a family affair, and a manifestation of collective creativity.
Designs transcend garments and objects; defining the concept of form through narrative. We blur lines between the known and the unknown, transforming the abstract into the concrete. Through experimentation and research and the process in which we create, art and fashion become one. NAÏYO is more than a brand, it’s a vision that propels us into the future. Where collaborations are honored, and integrity lies in building our community.
Attention to detail, high quality materials and modern craftsmanship are at the core of our vision. This is a journey without a final destination, a tangible expression of our commitment to pushing the boundaries. In a world where barriers divide, NAÏYO speaks a language that unites. Cultivating unfiltered self-expression and embracing inclusivity. NAÏYO derives from the Japanese word for "Nothingness" a philosophical concept that signifies a state of nonexistence - the space from which new things emerge.
Roy Nachum's work often includes Braille and the recurring subject, a child with a gold crown covering their eyes, representing "blindness" born from displaced values and desires. The Crown Kid serves as a symbol of humility and equality and the Braille is a medium to communicate through poetry and messages. Its tactile quality allows for interaction otherwise not allowed in painting. Nachum’s work by its nature demands interaction, this notion has grown to feed the movement of Mercer Labs, Museum of Art and Technology where technology is the tool and the viewer is invited into the work.
Nachum's expansive art production extends into various disciplines, including fashion, design, engineering, and other areas. He challenges traditional divisions with an interdisciplinary approach, exploring the possibilities that technology imposes on art. Themes of language, spatial awareness, and the relationship between artistic process and viewer participation are recurrent. Works are characterized by a series of experiments, often involving unconventional methods. For instance, Nachum blindfolded himself for 196 hours during a period of seven consecutive days using himself as a conduit.
