Carthé wasn’t born from strategy, but from a spark. It began when Marc Shammah, founder of Gotham Motor Group, sat with contemporary artist Roy Nachum (Mércer Labs & NAÏYO co-founder) to discuss restoring a Land Rover Defender 90. A 30-minute meeting became four hours of exploring how creativity, storytelling, and emotion could be built into something physical. That energy led to Moment of Clarity, the first Carthé build, a one-of-one Defender crafted by hand in Roy’s Hamptons garage. From travertine stone flooring to a hand-painted speedometer, every detail carried meaning, transforming the vehicle into a sculpture in motion.

As the project took shape, Roy’s brother, Adi Nachum, co-founder of NAÏYO, brought a new dimension. With NAÏYO, the world of Carthé extends beyond the road and into culture, inspiring limited-edition garments, accessories, and objects that echo the design and narrative of each build. This connection allows the story to live on in everyday life, creating a bridge between art, fashion, and engineering.
